What is Money In & Out?¶

Money In & Out is a straightforward expense tracker for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It helps you track income and expenses without the complexity of traditional finance apps.

How It Works¶

1. Add Transactions¶

Two ways to add:

Scan Receipt (Fastest) 1. Tap the + button 2. Take a photo of your receipt 3. AI extracts merchant, amount, and date 4. Review and save

Manual Entry 1. Tap the + button 2. Enter amount and select category 3. Save

2. Smart Categories¶

The AI automatically organizes transactions into categories: - Auto-matching - Recognizes merchants and assigns categories - Auto-creation - Creates new categories when needed - Smart learning - Remembers your preferences

Categories like Food & Dining, Transportation, Shopping, Entertainment, and more are created automatically based on your spending.

Each category has a color and icon for quick identification.

3. View Analysis¶

See your spending patterns: - By period - Day, week, month, or year - By category - Visual charts and breakdowns - Summary stats - Total income, expenses, net balance

4. Sync Across Devices¶

Enable iCloud sync to keep data synchronized across: - iPhone and iPad (iOS 26.0+) - Mac (macOS 26.0+)

What It Doesn't Do¶

Money In & Out intentionally keeps things simple:

❌ No loan calculators
❌ No multi-user accounts

If you need these features, Money In & Out isn't the right fit.
